Following Garrett Greenwald comment on another post regarding the new Laos e-Visa i went though the steps till the last page outta curiosity.

$46.58

And its 30 dollars (depends on nationality but oscillates between 30-35) at the border/airport.

Not trying to be cheap, complain or anything.

For someone with a few pages left on the passport it might be very well worth the extra 16 dollars.

Or someone who doesnt mind the 16 dollars and doesnt wanna fill forms on arrival, queue that long (the e-Visa lane at the airport is always empty)

It did caught my attention cuz Cambodian e-Visa is 6 dollars more (which many end up paying just as much in brives at the border).

Seems reasonable to pay a bit more for the platform, the convenience, plus the credit card processing fees they have to pay, etc.

But 50%... mmm...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on the cost of obtaining a Laos e-Visa compared to the pricing at borders/airports. The user notes that the e-Visa is priced at approximately $46.58, while the cost at the border ranges between $30 to $35, depending on nationality. They argue that for travelers with limited passport pages or those preferring to avoid long queues at arrival, paying the additional fee for an e-Visa may be worthwhile. The user also compares this with the Cambodian e-Visa, highlighting differences in pricing and the perceived value of convenience.
