I'm up to renew my 1 year non o Thai wife visa. Are the requirements the same as the first time? Is it a 2 step stamp process? Meaning I go to drop off documents etc and then come back for stamp? - for Chang Watthana Bangkok location

I was approved for the DTV out of the Los Angeles office, on my second pass. First pass was rejected because of middle name versus middle initial on application. I applied under the remote worker category.

I just saw someone post about adding a dependent after being approved. My wife is currently on the one year renewable retirement visa. We would consider adding her as a dependent of mine. I do travel back and forth to the states often. She stays in Thailand for much longer periods of time, but the 180 day max would not be an issue as we do a lot of travel to nearby countries.

I know I can research on my own, but can anyone give feedback on the process of adding her to mine and anything we should be aware of? Thanks in advance.

DTV Success Story

I was granted a DTV visa from the consulate in Taipei. After being granted, I then submitted for my wife and 2 year old son, both as dependents, which were also approved! I applied under the workation category. Along with my passport and visa application, here are the other documents I submitted-

-3 months of bank statements

-letter from my employer stating I could work remotely and all of my work was for companies outside of Thailand

-Employment contract

-Employers Article of incorporation

-Because my bank statements were long, they also asked I submit a separate statement from the same bank account which only listed the deposits from my employer. I get paid on a per project basis, so I think they also asked for this because the payments come in on random dates so it would have been a bit tedious for them to review my entire statements to find them.

-savings account statement which had 502,000 bhat in it

-Passport photograph

For my wife and son I only had to submit their passports, visa applications, photographs, birth certificate for son, marriage certificate for wife, copy of my DTV visa, copy of my passport, and the same financials I submitted for my visa. I was told at the counter they actually probably wouldn’t need the financials since I was already approved for my DTV but kept them with their applications just in case.

My visa was granted within 24 hours of applying. The next day I submitted wife and son’s docs and visa was also granted within 24 hours. All in all my experience in Taipei was phenomenal! I know stipulations could change anytime, but for the time being, I highly recommend the Thai consulate in Taipei.

I have been issued a non O-A (retirement) visa from Canada - once the documentation was submitted it took only 1 working day to get approved!

My wife (also Canadian) and I will arrive into Krabi early November.

As this is my first time arriving with this type of visa, what will I need to present to the immigration officer at the airport - I want to be sure to have everything close at hand. I assume the printed O-A visa, valid passport, Health Insurance certificate?....anything else?

Also, my wife does not qualify for her own O-A visa, so she will apply for a non O in Thailand as a trailing spouse/depentant - is the marrage certificate all thats required for the non O for her?

Thank you for your help.

I just submitted application for DTV Visa in Vancouver Canada consulate, called to make sure I had all the right documents, including a letter I wrote explaining all my business activities, the person on the phone said it was OK to write your own letter explaining all your business activities and that my business was online/digitally, he also said it would not take longer than 2 weeks, others here have said it took 2 business days, so after I get my DTV I can apply for my wifes, with her banking information and our marriage certificate, hoping all goes well

Sharing info

We got DTV via Ho Chi Minh City.

Made booking 2 weeks ago via thai embassy’s web in HCMC.

Submitted all documents Mon, 26 august. Received DTV Wed, 28 Aug.

DTV workcation requirement that we submitted:

- work contract agreement with mentioned eligible to work remotely

- 6 months bank statement with transaction details not less than THB 500k in foreign currency

- house rental agreement in thailand - which we provide willingly to indicate our current location

- photo

- copy passport

- form application that you can get it from the visa office/ print it via by downloading on web

- cost U$340 - make sure the money is smooth and new. They are very particular on it

Spouse of DTV workcation

- marriage certificate in english

- local identity that stated in the marriage certificate

- 6 months bank statement with transaction details not less than THB 500k in foreign currency

- photo

- copy pasport

- form

- cost U$340

Btw we also tried via Singapore before, but please noted its not recommended.

Even though it’s more organized that you can submit online, but the requirement more complicated on top of basic requirement, i.e:

- letter from company address to thai embassy in singapore

- company registration in registered country

Good luck!
