I’m leaving the Maldives to back to the US for my Thai visa, my only other option was to mail my passport to the Thai embassy in Sri Lanka (because there’s no Thai embassy here) and it would take a month

barebones quarantine is 1k USD if you can even find one, more likely 1.4k, covid test, fit to fly paper 200, insurance, visa cost 40, flight cost...adds up quickly

One good things covid has done is many airlines and hotels allow for free rebooking or cancellations. Just make sure you have options

Also at least for the US you fill out info online and if they accept it then they ask you to mail all the required documents

If there’s a Thai embassy in Portugal you should contact them, if they say yes they will likely physically want your passport for the process
