I'm a British citizen currently travelling (not living) in Portugal. I'm just wondering, when applying for a visa, do I contact the Thai embassy in the UK or here in Portugal?
FYI, UK is currently in lockdown, so I don't know if this would affect anything :/
Any help would be much appreciated!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A British citizen currently in Portugal is inquiring about the correct Thai embassy to contact for a visa application, as the UK is under lockdown. Community responses suggest reaching out to the Thai embassy in Portugal if one is available, as they may require the passport for processing. Additionally, comments discuss the financial aspects of traveling to Thailand amid COVID-19, including estimated costs for quarantine, visa fees, and insurance, with some members suggesting waiting to travel due to the current situation.
really dont know what it is with people outside thinking Thailand cannot survive without international tourists. Of more concern to Thailands economy at the moment is the low price of rice.
agreed, whilst the economy here has taken a hit so has just about every country's economy worldwide. Tourism isn't Thailand's biggest earner, and as you say right now they're wondering why rice farmers aren't rich!
Lots of people have not taken into account when they quote tourism numbers, what the Thai outbound market would normally be spending overseas, is now being spent in Thailand, thats quite a large figure
yep, spot on. These long weekends have been good for quite a few places, in particular those within driving distance of Bangkok. As you said earlier, those outside Thailand don't seem to realise that for most of the country life continues as normal.
I have just had somebody message me saying it will cost a minimum of £3000 to go to Thailand (inc. visas, flights, quarantine etc). Does anybody know if this is right?🙏🏼
barebones quarantine is 1k USD if you can even find one, more likely 1.4k, covid test, fit to fly paper 200, insurance, visa cost 40, flight cost...adds up quickly
Is it Tourist visa you are looking at. You have to show some funds about 1800 euro for at least three months. You will have to check with embassy if they allow a UK statement.
I know Singapore accepts any country bank statement
