Have you been booked in on a tm30 at immigration by your landlord or yourself? They will not allow you to stay anywhere without a tm30.... they will fine you first with 1600 baht if you did not.....

@Robert ******
the visa cost is 5000 baht but you only can get a visa if you have a qualifying volunteering job isn't it? You can get this through an agent and all of those agents offer the complete package including a job and paperwork visa contact with immigration officer etc etc. This total package incl visa is everywhere offered for 33.000 baht! Tell me if it is different.

A combat visa is issued by yhai government for 1 year when you take every 14 days 2 x 4 hours of self defence training. Age and experience is not important for this one. In same schools come many police and army people. Very nice and easy type of visa. Only for chiang mai. Just google chiang mai combat visa......
Steve *****

@Tod ********
i have friends a couple over 50 and they are trying that already for a few years. They say the one time 800 fee is only when you have a thai spouse. It is all very difficult i guess! I will tell them your story and see how they react. They are 6-8 months in thailand and the rest in their home country.
