Many people who are older, or have pre-existing conditions can’t get insurance in Thailand at any price, or subject to exclusions.

Even if you have a seven figure USD net worth, Thailand still requires insurance for some visa types.

If the hospitals were smart, they would offer their own high deductible catastrophe plan.

The agents probably accept the deposit because it is a payment equal to their commission for the lease (2 months rent).

This may be why some landlords fail to return the deposit- they don’t have the money.

in my opinion the OA is a terrible option. I agree with

. Come to Thailand and apply for a Non O visa.

There are very few reasons not to choose this over a OA.

All Big Joke would have to do is to root out the corrupt immigration agents in Phuket. The ones who permit fake ฿800,000 bank balances.

This would immediately accomplish 3 goals:

1. Reduce corruption

2. Reduce criminal biker gangs, Chinese, etc.

3. Result in a massive bank boost
