If you don't take a single or multi re entry when on retirement visa .Then you decide you want to leave. For a trip back home or a unexpected death in family can you still leave without losing visa status . Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
To maintain your retirement visa status when leaving Thailand, it is essential to obtain a re-entry permit. Without this permit, your visa will become invalid as soon as you exit the country. You can purchase the re-entry permit either from immigration offices or at the airport before departure.

Just go to immigration at any time and buy a re entry permit. You will need application form tm8 I think. The permit is valid until your extension stamp expires.

No. And I don't see why you should. You still have to go to the airport, go through immigrations and all the other processes there, you still need to go to the plane and fly. What's against buying a re-entry, even in that very unfortunate circumstance?
lol you mean 'yes'. 'You can buy a re-entry permit....

You need to make sure to leave the country with a re-entry permit, to keep your visa valid. You can get it at Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi assuming you depart from BKK.
