I guess it means nothing less than you have to contact the immigration branch office in your residence area.

I made my very first one-year retirement visa in Chaengwattana with the help of an agency for 300 USD. Fast lane, 1 hour, while others had to wait all day. Now I live in Tak Province and do it my self. Easy.

The same applies to the annual extension of the visa. We have to bring them the same papers year after year. I wonder where they store them.

As for fingerprints, do they at least offer finger cleaning liquids? 😂

ASQ Hotels must take special security precautions and be connected to a nearby hospital. Not every hotel is capable of this.

Actually hospital staff is present at the hotels to take care for the guests and for daily temperature measure and also Covid tests.

That's why the number of hotels is limited.

Currently no retirement visas are issued, not even in America. Furthermore, America is listed in Thailand as a high risk country.

You mean the timing for the vaccine? There are two major corona viruses besides the current SARS-CoV-2. That was SARS-CoV in 2002 and MERS-CoV in 2012, and for these there is still no vaccine available. So it might still be a long way to go for a vaccine for the current virus. It's a bit pessimistic but time will tell. I do hope it comes sooner.

Not very soon! Not even the government knows when to open. Sometime in the next few years it could be. That depends on whether an effective vaccine is available.

Seems the Thai government wants to get rid of the "Non O" retirees. Their returnig was never a topic so far.
