Hi..I’m Indonesian.. I want to visit Thailand ..

Because my fiancé live in Koh Samui (He is Italian but living in Thailand).

Actually we will get married on April and then Thailand closed borders.

I asked Thai embassy for the visa.. but they said it can’t. Only work permits & Marriage certificates can enter Thailand.

Does anyone have advice for me or can help me? Thank u 🙏

Not seen my wife since January ! I’m doing the right to reside visa and taking her out of Thailand and bringing her to our house in the Uk ! We’ll rent our Thai home out ! They don’t want outsiders in Thailand so I’ll take her out of it !

Not understanding this as you've been able to get a type O visa based on marriage to enter Thailand since the beginning of July. That was in the first groups let back in. You still have to get covid-19 insurance, and do 14 days of quarantine, but you have been able to return to Thailand since early July.

 it’s the cost ! I have to get a Covid test here then I have to be tested again in Thailand, Then I have to quarantine at my own expense in a government hotel, everywhere someone has their hand out for money. My wife can travel to Uk and Quarantine in our home here ! We can rent our home out in Thailand!

Not very soon! Not even the government knows when to open. Sometime in the next few years it could be. That depends on whether an effective vaccine is available.

 You mean the timing for the vaccine? There are two major corona viruses besides the current SARS-CoV-2. That was SARS-CoV in 2002 and MERS-CoV in 2012, and for these there is still no vaccine available. So it might still be a long way to go for a vaccine for the current virus. It's a bit pessimistic but time will tell. I do hope it comes sooner.

You might want to check the Thailand embassy again. I went to the Thai embassy in Hong Kong on Oct 6, the staff said we can apply STV and handed out a piece of paper with all the requirements and required document. I did ask if I needed to be a group and the staff said no. Once STV is issued we can take the repatriation flight or commercial flight (non-chartered flight) to go to Thailand. Since I am not applying for STV I didn’t ask further. But if you can get STV you can meet your fiancé. Embassy staffs also said that besides Thai airway which has very limited flight we can take Cathay Pacific CX653 which is available 4-5 times a week. The similar arrangement could be available in your country.

Good luck in getting medical insurance that specifically insure COVID-19 issues... None of the major insurance companies I contacted do not currently offer it yet. Has anyone gotten one that specifically covers COVID expense?

I am from Hong Kong and yes you are right that applicant should have no criminal records in Thailand and, I assume, place of origin. Please send the "Documents required for Special Tourist Visa class STV" handed over to me by embassy. It can give you a better idea. Apology for bad quality of photo.

 What country are you a resident of? Because I heard you had to be a resident of the country you were getting the visa at. Also I thought you had to get a criminal background check done of your resident country. If I’m wrong I am very happy

 I am fully aware the STV has been put on hold till after Phuket Vegetarian festival. However I will not be surprised that some still can get the visa as my knowing about Thailand is that nothing is for sure. I could be wrong. In contrast of your disappointed situation, we don’t need anything in Hong Kong. Just pop up in the embassy, get a number, your questions will be answered.

 Yeah, I’ve heard from others that the Embassy in Hong Kong is pretty responsive. Even got an elite visa member into Thailand.

 from what I understand you have to be in your home country to use the STV and it Has to be a low risk country.

 You could be right but here it seems embassy gives out STV info paper to both local and foreigners. The foreigners might have already obtained Hong Kong ID card. For the low risk country list I keep trying to get the list. Seems it is not available for public so far. Therefore it does not hurt to check out with embassy.

 yeah, I was directed to the embassy site in Switzerland and it specifically said only people of Swiss nationality could apply for the S TV. But didn’t you hear also that the S TV program was put on hold? Unfortunately, here in Korea the embassy does not answer the phone, does not receive messages, I did not answer email. But yet requires an appointment.

 I would suggest that you be very very cautious before you purchase it. At least for the time being, the situation is very unclear as to the benefits of having an elite visa in terms of getting into Thailand

I know exactly how you feel Tammy .

Im in australia and i haven’t seen my fiancé for 279 days and 10 hours and 44 minutes and 52 seconds .

She owns her own house and land so one day i hope to live with her in Thailand but this virus has put people like us in a heart breaking situation and also put others in worst situations where they dont even have food .

Strong love can conquer this but lets hope a vaccine comes out very soon so that people can work and earn money to survive .

 Unfortunately, because the bar is set very low for the effectiveness of the vaccine, only greater than 50%, it is doubtful that it will make a difference in Thailand immigration policies. I wish it was otherwise.

 unfortunately, he is right regarding the attitude of thai local people to foreigners coming in. They did a badly run poll they showed like 95% did not want farang coming in but on the other hand 93% wanted an improvement in the economy. So they’re pretty schizo. Like the expression, They want to have their cake and eat it too.

 yes. The from here in turkey I applied for residence permit. It was just 400TL . You can stay legally while waiting for process. Might take half a year.
