normally is not a problem to travel in Thailand with a copy of passport with visa pages also, but some problems occurs if police want the original and you are not able to provide it. The solution is not use agents when you wish to travel in days near your visa renovation. Most of immigration offices keep passport only one day, so do it by yourself

best thing is to pay overstay at airport or possible also to make a visa run but not convenient if you have a flight ready end this week

expired passport is useful to get a new passport at the embassy. where is the problem

they count near immigration now because is easier due to low number of passengers. Normally they always counted at gate on arriving of the flight

visa for Italy not easy to get and need to apply at external office in BKK charged for this matter
