I’m going to get the LTR as soon as I get a year of qualifying income behind me, probably around May next year. I think it’s the best visa. I’m currently a non-OA on first extension.
You’re talking about the AXA EasyCare Visa used by foreigners for obtaining an OA visa. Yes, it works. I used it to get mine over a year ago. It’s pretty cheap, but not very comprehensive to be used as a normal health insurance policy. After I got to Thailand I got a comprehensive health insurance policy from Pacific Cross. You might want to check them out first as their plans also cover the OA requirements, unless you just want to use it to get the OA visa and don’t care about the actual coverage. You kind of get what you pay for. I think my AXA policy was $600 and my Pacific Cross plan was $2400 which included outpatient costs. With only in patient it was about $1800. I’m 63 with no preexisting conditions. If you don’t need insurance then go with the non-O retirement visa that requires no health insurance.
