Hello everyone. I want to apply for an O-A visa directly at the embassy. I want to ask if any of you have purchased health insurance from AXA -Thailand. I am especially interested in whether there are any people who have purchased the policy with benefits of 4,000,000 bth and a 300,000 deductible, and if they had problems issuing the visa.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the suitability of AXA health insurance for obtaining an O-A visa in Thailand. Several users confirm that AXA insurance can be used for this purpose, though experiences vary regarding its comprehensiveness. Some users suggest considering alternative insurers like Pacific Cross for better coverage after arrival in Thailand. There are also recommendations to explore the non-O visa option, which does not require any health insurance.

I have AXA based on a non OA, it's not the best coverage but it is cheap and it makes applying easy. I have had it 3 years and have had an operation which they covered with no problems.

Another option....get a nonO (does not require insurance) fly to thailand and get a local insurance

That would mean paying twice.

why would u pay twice? The nonO doesn't need insurance to qualify.....once in thailand get a comprehensive insurance which doesnt need to be in the list of the OA requirements

I think I need more information about that insurance and how it can be used. I was referring to the fact that I would not be happy to pay the visa fee twice, or for the fee a short visa O, and when I get to Thailand to pay the fee for the services of a specialized company.

You’re talking about the AXA EasyCare Visa used by foreigners for obtaining an OA visa. Yes, it works. I used it to get mine over a year ago. It’s pretty cheap, but not very comprehensive to be used as a normal health insurance policy. After I got to Thailand I got a comprehensive health insurance policy from Pacific Cross. You might want to check them out first as their plans also cover the OA requirements, unless you just want to use it to get the OA visa and don’t care about the actual coverage. You kind of get what you pay for. I think my AXA policy was $600 and my Pacific Cross plan was $2400 which included outpatient costs. With only in patient it was about $1800. I’m 63 with no preexisting conditions. If you don’t need insurance then go with the non-O retirement visa that requires no health insurance.

Thank you for your answer. I am interested in cheap insurance just to get a visa. I have a normal medical insurance in Europe and I would not like to invest in another one. I prefer to purchase a travel insurance that will cover only emergencies while I am in Thailand, which costs around 14 euro every 30 days. Non-O retirement visa doesn't help me because I stay there about 5 months a year and I want to avoid traveling to the border.
