Not to rain on your parade, by all means hope you have a great trip here.
But Yangon is absolutely not the same as pre-coup and pre-covid. I’ve lived there my whole life, left in 2021, and re-entered a week ago. Everything has flipped upside down and the country is moving backwards. The cityscape may look and feel the same but many things have changed that affects daily life for most citizens and residents, like prices going up 2-3 times more than 2 years ago.
This generally applies to everyone who earns a very high income and has to pay 17% taxes here with the new visa. I'd instead get all the other available visa options: multi-entry tourist, education. Would get all other options before paying 17% with an expensive visa
Thailand is a paper country for official matters. Doesn't matter whatever you registered online and stuff, Just assume to have printed documents for immigration officers. If they don't check it, good for you. If they did ask, consider it a backup paper. It applies to most "proof of [something]" situations
they just extended the state of emergency period. Which implies covid is still an emergency. Therefore, likely to be extended. BUT this is the same government that still can't decide Songkran should be water-free or not yet
Just book a refundable booking and apply. They’re only doing this cuz they have to track down covid positive tourists. In passport control, there are signs everywhere that says “ you MUST have address in Thailand after quarantine” Just book whatever and be cooperative like a respectful traveler if you got covid. The gov usually don’t care where u stay. Maybe a disease control center recommendation.
Yes, sounds like in this case, 1 hour isn't going to make them really reject the validity of the pass. Hope he has a good seat, these planes get crowded real fast, unlike 6 months ago.
