Hey everyone,

I received my LTR visa without any problems. It took the BOI around 3 weeks to see thru my documents and sending my the endorsement letter. After I submitted the endorsement letter to the Thai embassy of my home country it took another 4 days till I had the LTR Visa in my hands. it could have been faster if I had a certified translation of my taxi come return right away.

It was a very fast and easy process. If you check all the requirements the LTR visa is easy to get.

Wish you guys all the best!

I submitted my LTV Work from Thailand professional visa application on 6 April. It took until April 12 for status to change from pending to 'consideration by government agencies'. Then 3 back to back Songkran holidays meant that as of today, 24 April, it has been 2.5 weeks, but only something like 6 business days. I emailed to ask if it was possible to change my Visa collection (assuming successful) from London to Bangkok. No reply yet, I am aware they are very busy, during and post-Songkran. 20 business days could take until May 12, or I could get a reply today/tomorrow. Need to plan but unable to do so, while simply waiting is creating other complications with work and responsibilities (I am not simply being impatient, there are knock-on effects I am trying to avoid). I want to call LTR office again, but also do not want to hassle them. Any thoughts?

Hi there, submitted many LTR application on 6th April after more than 6 weeks getting all documents together. April is strewn with Songkran public holidays. Is there any way the application process can be quickened? It could take another 6 weeks from now to find out if I am successful or not. Also, is there a way you can get a clear idea if you will be successful in advance so it is worth effort of travelling over on visa exempt while waiting?

Thanks for insights.

I did mine under Wealthy Penioner taking right at 20 days start to finished and was amazed had how much help the BOI folks gave me. Great experience after 23 years of other visas here.

@Dave *********
Hi Dave, do you mean 20 business days or 20 actual days?
Dave **********
@James ********
20 days but in a different category then you I think.

I have sent you a pm, hoping you can clarify some information for me thanks so much šŸ™

Nice. How strict were they? Two years ago I was unemployed briefly during the pandemic.

@Jack ********
they were very strict about the tax of the last two years and about the employment conformation. They wanna see that you are really allowed to work from Thailand.

, do you mind if I PM you? I've been researching the LTR and it looks like I qualify, but I have only one stumbling block. I can't seem to find an answer on that. Even after I spoke to BOI office.

If you don't mind me asking, what documents were asked to prove your 80K/year income from the past 2 years?
Todd *********
@Felix ******
pension statements, investment account, tax forms, bank statementsā€¦ anything that can prove your income
Felix *******
@Todd ********
Great. 1 of them should be enough, right?
Todd *********
@Felix ******
yes.

As long as it proves 80k, itā€™s all u need
Rajiv *******
Did you get the acknowledgement after you applied? Sent mine through but nothing yet since 2 weeks
Todd *********
Thatā€™s a fact. Itā€™s easy as long as you can prove the income

@Russell ******
Mind if I PM you? I am considering the same thing.

i choose the LTR pensioner visa. Sick of the changing requirements of the local immigration people.
Todd *********
@John *****
It definitely seems to be by far the best visa in Thailand both for long term usage and cost. Really no comparision
Dave **********
Picked up mine 1 February and one of the reasons I went LTR is I no longer need a non joint account for Immigration. I assist American Veterans Widows and they often end up waiting months to get their husbands money.
Russell *******
Hi , on what grounds did you apply?
Todd *********
Nancy Begnal lol. Do you have a 10 year LTR visa yet sweetie? It sounds like you love going to immigration a lot šŸ˜‚. Sounds like Thailand already having quite a bit of laughter at your expense. Iā€™ll wave to you as I pass by immigration or in the fast track line šŸ‘‹
Todd *********
Nancy Begnal that is correct, i thought you told us that you read the fine print???! There is no 90 day reporting requirement for LTR (it's annual), no requirement at all for TM30, it's free multi entry included, and FastTrack service at all airports. You are welcome.
Todd *********
Nancy Begnal you could be a fly on the wall, but as your knowledge seems limited, I have LTR. Never have to go to immigration again. But I could come and enjoy you sitting in line with you if you like šŸ˜‚
Todd *********
Nancy Begnal thx. Remove it would be great. No bad info needed here really. Have a great nite
Todd *********
Nancy Begnal you should re-read. Clearly misunderstanding
Todd *********
Nancy Begnal what does that mean? You donā€™t have to do ANYTHING
Kylie ********
Nancy Begnal i could not find these on our website. Can you please provide a link.
Dave **********
Nancy Begnal lol I looked at the conditions for my situation and I noticed you did not post the so called fine print. If you see a problem with the LTR for retirees POST IT.
Kylie ********
Nancy Begnal can you please include what the fine print is
Dave **********
@Kylie *******
seems she can't as I asked twice. I found the BOI people doing the LTR very knowledgeable and all was explained in advance and before paying. I have to report in one year only for the yearly sign in.
Dave **********
@Russell ******
I used several sources

@Dave *********
OK thanks

I donā€™t really understand your question tbh.
Dave **********
@Hiro *****
lol you want people to belive there is a problem then post what you think it is. Without posting sounds like Sour Grapes.

LTR is not a good deal for everyone but as I already have medical insurance and the required income, via my Government, my conditions will not change except all my pay goes up with inflation.

Been here 23 years, this trip, and I could do marriage or retirement howrver ome of the many factors that pushed me to the LTR was not having to maintain a non joint bank account. This there is no Pay Upon Death here and my wife would have to go to Probate Court,which takes a few months, to get what would then be her money. I assist Widows when and I'm avoiding those pitfall for my wife.

@Hiro *****

got mine as retiree and have been here this trip 23 years.

@Dave *********
hi . I find the criteria a bit confusing. Did you have to have a investment in Thailand over 250,000 dollars?
Todd *********
@Russell ******
no investment required for LTR retiree. Over 50 and prove $80k income (any source) and ur in. Very straightforward. By far the best retiree visa in Thailand
Russell *******
@Todd ********
OK thanks
Dave **********
@Russell ******
no showed I make $80,000 a year. No In Country Bank Accountt required just proof make that I much andvI also showed proof of insurance and the BOI Staff were excllent.

I also got my approval in 20 days with the additional wait for the stamp appointment. It was a pretty smooth process.
