Any suggestions for a Long Term Visa internship working in agriculture science and/or medical cannabis ?

I am an American (West Coast) entrepreneur in the regenerative cannabis and Permaculture movements with a university science degree who turned into a soil biology nerd and studied Korean Natural Farming (KNF) for the last 20 years from a laboratory.

In Thailand (on and off) for almost a year now, traveling all around this great country and as an ecologist and agriculturalist, it's too perfect. I don't want to leave, much to learn.

Starting to think about creative ways to learn and share in return for a Long Term Visa.

Medical Cannabis (endocannabinoid system and the entourage effect) is one of my specialties.

There is obviously a market for it….

[[members only])

I have taken the time to research the modern “political scene” of Thailand specifically with regards to cannabis.

From what I can understand there is a strong desire for this plant to remain medicine and not to be abused in any way.

I agree and it would be a dream to be able to work with that blessed plant in this great country.

Farming, Soil Health and Agroforestry in Thailand would be amazing too.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your time

Hello I am a foreign student coming to attend my bachelor in Thailand. I am currently being considered for a paid internship from a company overseas, how would my situation be? I know you can't have paid internships in Thai but the company is from overseas.

Would this be considered violating my student visa?

What other laws / taxes should I worry about?

Hi folks, a while ago I posted about cancelling an extension of stay based on studying a university degree before the official date of graduation. Just wanted to give a short update in case anyone was interested: I just finished a 30 minute phone call with immigration and they basically told me they have no pre-intended process foe a case like this and that I should contact the immigration at their premises.

What would you do in my case?

Usually Thai students end their studies by doing a mandatory internship and in many (most?) Cases, the places where they do their internship will offer them a contract to stay with them after graduation. This is also the case for me. They would like me to continue working right away, but I told them that I wouldn't start until we got my visa and work permit worked out. So they already started that process to make it as quick of a transition as possible. But officially I don't graduate until December this year. Obviously neither the company nor me can wait this long, considering that we can only start applying for my work permit after i cancelled my student visa and changed to a visa that actually supports a work permit. Tricky, isn't it?

Hi all, I need your help with my visa extension!

I'm currently in Thailand for an internship, and before coming here I issues a non- immigrant ED visa which as I was told I can extend upon my arrival in Thailand. Now here is the thing, for the past few days I've been in contact with the immigration office help desk to help finalise the required paperwork to extend my educational visa, but they require a work permit as well. I tried to explain to them many times, that it's for education purposes not work and my internship is unpaid but their response is the same, that they still require a valid work permit. I have searched on the internet, asked around, contacted my internship agency and all are unfamiliar with this situation, therefore my question to this group, has anyone faced the same issue and how were you able to solve the problem? Thank you !

~Need of advice to get an ED visa from Thailand~

Hello everyone 👋🏻

I am french and I found an internship in Bangkok to finish my studies.

I am currently already in Bangkok out of quarantine (with a visa exemption that I just prolongated for 30 days until September 25th).

I went to the immigration office yesterday to apply for my ED visa and they told me that it wasn’t possible to get an ED visa on the spot for an internship at the moment. They only issue them outside Thailand or for studies in a Thai university. The embassy in France had confirmed that it was possible when I asked them before leaving but they must have had the wrong information...

I called my manager and he told me it wasn’t possible for him to provide me the papers to have a B visa and that he couldn’t take the risk to have me as an intern with a tourist visa.

So now a potential solution for me is to apply for a semester in a Thai university but the one I found which is still taking admissions (because the semesters start mid august so most of the universities don’t accept applications anymore) is quite expensive and I am not sure I can afford it …

If anyone knows an immigration office delivering ED visa under an internship or a cheap university delivering the documents for an ED visa, still taking applications and accepting international students it would really help me !

Or if someone has any other idea about what I can do, I take any advice …😅

Thank youu !

I am graduating from thai university this semester, my enrollment is until 31 july 2021 which my visa extension will be expired by that time too. However, my last day of class is 28 May 2021 and I heard students need to go back to their home country within two weeks after the last day of class along with their cancelled visa otherwise they will be charged overstay.

The thing is, I have an internship in June-July and I also applied master program in different university but they havent announced the result yet. I am expecting to extend my visa to different university in June-July if they offer me an admission. The university already said that changing school under same visa is possible.

With this 2 weeks rule, will it be a problem?

I kind of searched through Thai visa forum, some students did internship months after the graduation before their visa expired. If anybody knows, please drop something. I want to make sure this is possible without going back home to get new visa.

I am looking forward to change my ED Visa to a working VISA with a company that I am currently doing my Internship.

I am from Nepal. Before COVID-19, Nepalese had to go back to their own country to change the VISA type. But now the situation is not good there. I want to avoid this process. I'd be grateful if anyone can recommend me avoid this process of going back and change the VISA here itself. I also heard there is such policy now because of the situation but quite not sure about the details.

Thanks in advance.

Greetings,

I entered Thailand with a non-ED visa for an study semester, which has already been extended until the 16th of May for that purpose. I now wish to start an internship here needed for my curriculum as soon as possible (I have already a company here willing to provide me an internship).

Would it be possible to extend the visa while staying in Thailand, with a change of purpose from study to internship, provided that it has already expired?

Thank you in advance for your help
