yeah i've had it once where i've done the laos visa stuff and the bus that took me across the bridge is just about to leave to go back. which only took about a minute. but i've done it four other times where you have to wait about 30min+ for the next bus

wasn't trying to nitpick what you said. just thought it would be helpful for other people to know it doesn't usually take a minute. and there's no way of leaving a message under your comment without it being a reply

you’re right. The rules will probably be implemented very arbitrarily. Depending on the day, the officer, and the tourist

But it’s their country. And their right to turn away tourists who don't meet the requirements

DTV_Begpackerthere’s a big difference between new rules, and whether they will actually enforce those rules

Especially as a lot of people use visa run companies. Who pay them to make sure their customers don’t have problems

one minute is generally not average. Usually have to wait for the bus to take you back

But yeah, did mine last Friday and had no problems. Although I did use a visa run agency, and I think they give the guys coffee money so there’s never problems

i got accepted for medical reasons. i'd already been in thailand receiving treatment, so just showed them all the receipts for the appointments i'd had. Plus a doctor's note/certificate thing stating my medical diagnosis and the treatment plan. plus proof of future appointments and treatment

presumably if you have type 1, you've been dealing with it all your life. so just show some paperwork showing that + evidence of spending money on treatment in thailand and it should be fine

if in doubt, err on the side of including more paperwork

one thing worth mentioning is, on the financial side of things, when you have to renew at 6 months they might ask for a bank certificate (i think it's called). which is like a bank statement of your entire banking history with the bank you apply with. not just the one account you have the money in

it depends on where you stay. but they didn't ask for it when i applied. but did when i went to renew. and i am unable to get it, because it requires returning home to pick up from the bank in person. so worth getting one before you leave even if they don't ask for it now. might save you some headaches later

if you’re worried about not getting let back in, don’t just come straight back. Maybe plan a couple of weeks outside the country

It’s usually if someone has been doing lots of same day returns and border bounces that it can be a problem. Although ASEAN members typically get less scrutiny than others

And it doesn’t matter if the money has come from crypto. Just that it is liquid and has been in your account for the time specified

ok fair enough. i'll remember to leave a post after, in case people find it useful. You mentioned the office by the airport... I was going to go to the one up at central festival mall. is there any particular reason i should avoid that one? or did you just mention the one by the airport because that's the main one most people go to

ok, brilliant. appreciate the advice. I have about 400k in regular current accounts, and then can make up the rest with money in a fixed savings account which is due to expire in a couple of months. Based on your experience, do you think this is going to be a problem?
