Just a quick follow-up on my post from 2 days ago. Today i finally extended my DTV at the Krabi Immigration Office after my third visit this week. (you can find my post in this group - use search)

additionaly to my listed documents i also had to:

- show my online banking account / app on phone with the money currently in the bank

- draw a map of where my house is located (hilarious)

- answer some questions like „what your work“, „where you stay before“, „telephone number“, „how much baht one euro“

- pay 2000 baht

As i was the first one in Krabi it was quite funny when they were searching the office for the new „DTV“ stamp. Which was still packaged 🤣

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user detailed their recent experience extending their DTV visa at the Krabi Immigration Office, highlighting some unexpected requirements. They mentioned needing to present proof of funds through their online banking app, draw a map of their residence, and answer various questions about their work and previous accommodations. They paid a fee of 2000 baht and noted the amusing situation of officials searching for the new DTV stamp, indicating some potential confusion in the office. Various comments from others in the community discussed similar experiences and reactions to the quirky requirements.

Just to get some clarity— what, specifically was the strictness you describe in the: "strict enforcement of the „residency“-section"? Are you referring to the questions you were asked about work, address, etc. (and your cartography skills)?

@Thomas *******
the strictness that was applied was the same as with the retirement visa extension here.

i provided:

- house book of my house

- id card of houseowner

- house book of houseowners house

- lease contract (had to get a new one because mine wasnt signed by the person in the house book which happens quite often)

- pictures of me in front of the house (a picture with me in the entrance + house number were not sufficient! need the whole house and area)

- pictures of me inside the house

- rental payment (sometimes requested as it seems)

- a map of the area

- TM30 (gladly that can be digital in Krabi)

and to make it harder for me they requested passport copies, photo, everything printed… usualy they do the copies there + a foto…

he is not "exempt" from a re-entry permit - he actually got a multi re-entry permit included with his DTV. My skills? IQ 135 at the age of 14

I haven't got my dtv visa yet as I plan to get it when I arrive back in England in March, I just landed back in from Vietnam Hanoi yesterday evening from doing a "border run" I flew into Vietnam for 2 days and then back into Bkk, ive been coming here for over 25 years, I live now basically in Thailand and have always done this with visa extensions etc as I still go back to the uk for 3-4 months a year to see family 👪....I was detained by immigration as soon as I went through passport control, I managed to sort it after an hours interrogation by them after making a few phone calls and getting the mrs to speak with them and provide her ID etc, there were queues of people that were being detained, I got through but they said I'd never be able to come through again without an appropriate visa and the officer recommended I get a DTV, they were ok, very polite, im a calm person anyway, seen 2 others that looked Indian get refused entry, I dont know what for but they were arguing with the officers, never had anything like this before, ever

well done, congratulations 🙂 clearly you are a glutton for punishment.. BUT you're dealing with a really laid back not hard core office as well (y)

Glad it worked out, that only took what? 15 trips to the immigration office 😉 😛 just kidding, congrats,

3 trips which was indeed not perfect and overall took a few hours. the issue was the strict enforcement of the „residency“-section. as they applied the same one as for retirement visa. if i had known that before i could have easily brought the documents on my first visit. thats why its good to learn about the process and share our experiences.

So you showed proof of funds in your bank account in your country via an online app and it was accepted for the DTV financial requirements ?

the app was just additional because my bank statements were already 5 days old… i showed a bank account overview 1-page as i did in my application. but he wanted to see bank statements from 30+ days.

@Dany *******
so you had to have the 500K baht in the bank for 30 days before you applied or you only needed to show that the account had 500K baht in it on the day you applied?

500k baht equivalent in euro inside the bank for 30+ days all the time before the extension. Thats also how its listed in the official immigration bureau order

500k baht equivalent in euro. since the baht is quite strong now that means about 14k € and it has to be there for 30+ days already. i have downloaded and shown my bank statements since November 1 2024 and he checked every page.

was it as thorough as when you first applied? or do you think I’ll be able to get away with having the money in savings accounts?

i think they didnt really check if its a savings account. but he checked every page of the bank transactions. it was a good amount of pages sinde november 1… just a random date i picked in my online banking account for the export.

actually i had even more documents in my backpack ready to pull out but i only handed over what they really wanted to see. to trim down the real requirements

yes. all the same. they did not care about my initial application. they did not compare or check that it was the same. he thoroughly checked the Immigration Order document step by step against my documents. just for the residency part they applied the fairly strict rules like with the retirement visa.

Ok, thanks for the reply.. Someone else posted their extension experience but they did not do the picture thing.. I guess it depends on the office you extend at. Very useful, interesting info you have given.

Congratulations on your DTV Extension and Thank You Very Much for your report about successfully obtaining an Extension!

If you would be so kind, then please do update us whenever you exit and re-enter Thailand again within the next 6 months as curious to see how many days the Thai Immigration Officer will stamp you in for (a new 180 days or up until the end of this DTV Extension)....

The point on the map lol. A couple of years ago I saw some Philippine girls refused entry at a border run as they could not point to their accommodation location on a map. They def did not make the bus back to Bangkok.

apparently my friend who did the retirement extension at the same office had the same requirements and he printed a google

maps picture. so i think the requirements are that specific for the „residence“ part.

Krabi is the only office I have heard of asking for these residence requirements for an "O" Visa. Certainly not asked for in Jomtien. Not on the list I have seen for Chiang Mai. 100% not needed for One Sop Shop Chimchurri Square "B" In fact they do not even ask for TM30 or tenancy contract.

the other day the big and heavy thing that I ordered to one address (the gym owners’ house), got delivered to the gym because the delivery guy figured that would be a better place for it?? It’s not even on the same street and about a kilometer apart… 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Anonymous participant 446 well it's easier than having to make 3 trips to the immigration office, and the frustration that comes with it. Vs say, flying to KL and coming back the same day. 'frustration' have different value for different people.
