6 Month Extension Chiang Mai...

I'm on medical soft power route

Had an appointment and medical certificate from the hospital where i am getting treaded

had proof of past care at the hospital over the last 6 months

had all the paperwork and bank statements etc. Same as when i applied

Immigration officer at Chiang Mai wanted a more thorough medical certificate, with a full break down of all my symptoms, and the diagnosis and the treatment etc.

And he also wanted a "bank certificate"

Said the statements weren't enough. A bank certificate is basically something from the bank that shows all the accounts you hold with them and when they were opened etc

My UK bank doesn't offer this

Decided it was easier just to do a border bounce instead

Things worth noting:

* some of the proof of funds i was showing was in a fixed term savings account (not an ISA), and he didn't seem to have any problem with that. Just wanted the bank certificate, not the statement

* i do think i could probably have shown him the email from my bank saying they don't do bank certificates any more or something. maybe he would have accepted it

* and i don't think he was actually being unreasonable about the medical stuff, either. For the last 3 months, I've just been taking medication and gradually getting better. And now the doctor just said come back in 3 months and see where things are. I was already planning on getting some second opinions etc and more treatment from other places. But from his point of view, i can understand why it might seem like I am trying to game the system or something

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shares their experience applying for a 6-month visa extension in Chiang Mai based on medical treatment. Despite providing a medical certificate and proof of care, the immigration officer requested a more detailed medical breakdown and a bank certificate, which their UK bank does not offer. The user decided to perform a border bounce instead. They noted that some documentation requests seemed excessive.

Did you do a boarder bounce in the end? If so, any issues or questions coming back in?

Some of the document requests are getting ridiculous, surprised they didn't ask for a syphilis test and fingerprints.
