Paul Lunney I'm just saying that Lawyers are always capable and willing to try and twist words to suit their case. I've seen it personally in the past. I wish you all the best.

Paul Lunney I hope that your ex-wife cannot see you on Facebook, even through people she knows. Posting so much info on social media is not a good idea. If your ex-wife has had any access to what you've posted, it could possibly be used against you.

does "the news" always get it right, report the facts as they are without bias or distortion? Often they'll either exaggerate, distort or leave out facts to sell their 'product'. It happened just recently, with a 'preview' of a TV News story where I live. In saying this, I'm not taking the side of those who you have replied to, just pointing out something that does happen.

I haven't personally looked into the actual Laws in Thailand. What I've read, including from very knowledgeable and respected people, is that once a foreigner is no longer in a relationship with their Thai partner, they no longer meet the Marriage/Spouse and no longer entitled to remain in Thailand. Their only way to stay would be if they qualify for a different type of Visa, unless they've maybe qualified as a permanent resident or Thai Citizenship. Having a child from the relationship might allow for staying in the country, but I wouldn't know.

as long as the marriage lasts. If the marriage ends, I believe the foreigner will have to leave Thailand within about a week

how long ago did you open a Thai bank account? From the comments of many in this group and another that I'm in, there's been a crackdown in the past year, on foreigners being able to open bank accounts in Thailand when on short term visas.

is it really worth taking your computer with you to Thailand? Did you mean Desktop or Laptop? Depending on current my circumstances, I hope to move to Thailand within 2 years & I'm wondering if to have my Desktop and higher end Monitor sent there via my Thai friend who lives close to me and has a house in Thailand (that would, from what I've read, avoid any taxes/customs charges.). From what comments I've read, things such as iPhones, computer equipment etc., are expensive in Thailand
