Hi all , I maybe in Phrichit, North Thai , in June staying at my girlfriend's house, but it's rice paddy area and I think that I'll be bored after a month. Told her that I need to escape for a week or two, don't want her to have to drive me for hours back to BKK and then have to drive back. Anyone know the area how to get to Bangkok by train or bus

( She doesn't seem to know) Or maybe a border run too somewhere from Phrichit. Thanks .

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation explores travel options for an expat planning to stay in Phrichit, Thailand, who anticipates boredom in the rural setting and is seeking ways to visit Bangkok. Comments suggest utilizing the extensive bus and train networks, particularly from nearby towns such as Nakhon Sawan and Phitsanulok, and various apps like Rome2rio and 12go.asia for travel planning. There are also discussions about the expat experience, relationships, and the potential need for breaks from rural life. Suggestions include taking the girlfriend along to minimize travel issues and avoid feeling isolated.

I have been in Nakhon Nowhere for months and able to keep busy and rarely bored. Maybe make an effort to learn Thai that might help greatly. I would be bored anywhere sitting hanging with foreigners.
Christopher *************
I guess it all depends on where the nearest Railway or Bus Stations are. Railway timetables and ticket booking are available on line.

A month, you'll be bored after a week. Trust me, small villages no one speaks English and most just drink there days away, stick to the cities

You'll be bored after a week, get to bangkok or pattaya from the local bus terminal, pay the extra for VIP.

One month? I will be bored after 1 week already looking at the paddy fields. It's so isolated from the rest of the world and I truly understand you. Hope this relationship works for you

it's been working for a couple of years already , but yes , longer term staying there ?? I know me , long for a beach and bars every now and then. If she doesn't have enough customers for her hairdresser salon, we'll both take a break 😁

Get a bus or taxi to Phitsanoluk airport (takes about 40mins). You can fly from there to BKK. It is quick and not expensive.

WoW. That sounds great. I'll be out in the suburbs of Phrichit about a hour from the center in rice growing area. There is a large lake 5 mins walk away, so I can go fishing and on her land we can build a small swimming pool, won't need filters and pump as water is cheaper there because of the rice Paddy's and can change the water often. But I'm a townie at heart and also love the island's in Thailand so I know that I'll need to get away now and again and when the business is quiet we can both get away

Your girlfriend “doesn’t know “ how to get to Bangkok from her hometown by bus etc

This is just so ridiculous - I suspect there will be roadblocks all across her village any day you try to escape 😁
Garry ********
I think you will be surprised how interesting being in the provinces can be, i never get bored But Depending on where You are in phichit it should only be roughly an hours drive to phitsanulok a plane fare is about,,,give or take, pending on the day 900 baht up to 3000 baht to Bangkok.

Don't take much money with you I'm sure family will let you go.

not for me. I stay way out in the countryside and for me it feels like the Thai people have given me the Keys to the Kingdom. Never boring. Always learning. Always an adventure everyday. Today I went to a new KFC opening in my neighborhood at 8am to collect a free umbrella and tonight a Football game against Bangkok United.

If you send her money monthly, you do not "have" a girlfriend. You are "renting" a girlfriend experience.

Think about that long and hard (with your brain) before you go visit her and "the family". And if you need more information, here are about 500+ stories that might feel a bit *familiar* after watching a few of them.

don't worry , I've been with my lady for a couple of years now and I've stayed there 3 times. But we always went back to Pattaya because she worked in a hair salon there, but going to work from home soon, and I know that I will need a break every now and then.

The deal is honesty. And the problem most normally whether you can handle prolonged exposure to the girlfriend or wife's family. A friend had a horrible time last year as he allowed himself to be bullied into only a few days to do what he wanted. THAT WAS NOT TO VISIT BAR GIRLS - I GET SO SICK OF THOSE ClICHE JOKES but to visit myself in Bangkok and other old friends in Bangkok and Pattaya - particularly an old female friend who is old enough to be his mother. If girlfriend or her family won't handle that it is time to move on. Remember I said the problem is the family not the locality. Important to remember. The locality will will give great new conversational possibilities - like the effect of rice paddy on toe nails.

I stay way out there in Thailand. At the end of the road on the Thai/Myanmar border with my wife. We have a more modern home next to the family home. 6 months each year. No bars, no cinema, no…well we’re in the countryside. I haven’t even been bored. Good luck to you.

Two major roads run through Pitchit going North/South. Road 11 on the East side and 117 on the West. Get a lift to any modest size town on one of those roads. You will for aure get a van/bus to Bangkok at the city of Nakhon Sawan

When going to Thailand for 31 - 60 ( 90 )days, the 60 days touristvisa is the best option.

It is cheaper than visa excempt + 30 days extension.

No need of a onward ticket ( 90 days 1 onward ), if returnticket within 60 days.

It is easier to apply from the comfort of your home.

thaievisa.go.th

Not wasting holiday time to find, go to and waiting at a immigration office ( 90 you would need that ).

Then no need to leave Thailand in up to 90 days.

All areas have minibuses that connect to Bangkok from the major towns, they may not originate there but pass through and pick up. Look for the place that sells the tickets.
