Taxi fares have increased considerably. Have booked from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Third Road, Pattaya in May. Four passengers so a luxury van instead of a car. My usual guy so not a rip off but it's 2,000 baht.

I'm at the point of applying for both motor car and motorcycle licences. A neighbour's wife gave the Land Transport Officer 2,000 baht for each licence. No questions or tests required. Either that or an agent sounds like the best plan.

Sounds like you have some other policy i.e. not 'Personal Accident'. Or, maybe, is it a 'legacy' product that continues to offer cover that is not available to new (or newer) customers?

It was 'PA 1st Smart' for persons aged 16 to 65. There is 'PA 1st Senior' for persons aged 50 to 100 but that states 'No coverage in the event of accident while driving or traveling on a motorcycle'.

Opened Bangkok Bank savings account in Pattaya. Taking a one year 'one off' accident insurance policy was required. They explained it does cover you for coming off your moto (up to age 65). As I'm now over 65 I haven't renewed it.

Thanks for that Rogerio! I guess she just filled out the form as best she could and threw her money away. I told her a Visa Agent probably could've helped. I was told that USA have a quota system and once the limit is exceeded no one is getting in. Of course, they continue to accept Visa applications pocketing the fees although they're going to refuse all applications.

I'll have to ask her that! Don't know how much the car was worth, hopefully she had some left over? Incidentally, sister-in-law applied for a work visa to Australia and was also turned down. Knowing what goes on in the 'English-speaking Countries' I consider they've a nerve refusing Thai's. They're the least of their worries.

My Thai Mrs was offered a job working in a Thai restaurant owned by her Aunt in Amarillo. She sold her car to pay for the visa application. Guess what?
