Has it been the case that immigration officers doing inspections of living arrangements, to establish if marriages are genuine or not that they have looked for back handers or tea money? Wife received an unusual call from immigration inspector who seemed to be lining up for a bit of tea money

UPDATE

Well that went smoothly, didn't even step foot in the accommodation, had a chat outside with the landlord for 10 mins, took a group selfie and on his way. Either my wife was mistaken or he changed his mind regarding gas money. Very professional interaction, polite and friendly.

Can anything be done if you are pressured for bribe money at an immigration office? I'm guessing not but I'd like to know if anyone has heard any stories. It happened to us...

Hello everyone,

Has anyone heard about “person who come from Middle East countries” can not get married in Thailand?

Me(from Taiwan) and my Israeli boyfriend are preparing to get married, we have all the documents, and we’ve asked district offices in CM, but they refused us to register marriage because they said my boyfriend is from Middle East.

A lawyer said we can get married in Bangkok, however we have to pay 10,000-15,000 for “tea money”.

Anyone had experience like this before? Thanks in advance🙏
