TLDR : Answer Summary
Several users shared their experiences with unlimited data SIM card options in Thailand, particularly recommending AIS and True. Plans can range from a few months to a year, with various pricing and data speed details. AIS offers both prepaid and postpaid options with prices varying from 1,500 to 3,500 baht for different durations. Users highlight that AIS has extensive coverage and good customer service. Additionally, some commented on the availability of these SIM cards at airports and convenience stores like 7-Eleven, advising to avoid tourist packages. A few users mentioned experiences with data speeds exceeding what they paid for.

AIS is the way to go. Second to that is DTAC. The work about as well in major population areas but AIS works better out in the country.

I do the unlimited data plan.

So I just arrive at the airport, get an AIS sim, and ask there and then for an add on unlimited data package
@Christopher **********
, or is there some other way I need to get the add on please?

BTW currently have a DTAC sim, but very happy to abandon that...

If you already have a DTAC sim it’s probably easier to keep it and ask for a similar data add-on package. In my case, AIS add-on pack was available within their app. True didn’t advertise their’s, I messaged customer service who sent me the code to apply it. In both cases, I needed to top-up my account in advance to permit the purchase. If you decide to go for AIS or True it’s best not to buy at airport. They try to sell tourist ‘specials’ which are not what you’re looking for. Buy a pre-paid SIM from

They sell the 1-2-call SIM cards in 7-Eleven and othor places. But best to ask in an AIS shop about it and they will set it up for you.

I use AIS unlimited 6gbs for 6 months for 1800 baht. Never lets me down.

I have pre-paid calls and SMS SIM’s for both AIS and True. Add-on unlimited data packages for both are 1,800 baht per annum. I have one in my main phone and the other in my backup.

@Christopher **********
what speed is that at please?
Christopher ***********
@Nick ***********
1Mbps. However, whenever I run a speed test I get up to 50Mbps (downstream) / 25Mbps (upstream).

@Christopher **********
that sounds almost too good to be true. I will try it when my current deal ends.

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing either! I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and other speed measuring apps. To be fair, the speed does vary considerably but it’s always a lot faster than what I’ve paid for so I’m very happy.

really depends on what your require.....ie data calls. Then you look for a plan to match your needs. AIS (been with them just over 10 years) have many unlimited data plans renewable monthly and great coverage
Bob **********
AIS has several 1 year plans 1500-2500-3500
Daniele ***********
@Bob *********
any way to get that offer without changing number?
Bob **********
@Daniele **********
yes you can keep your number if you have an AIS Sim or it is possible with some other sims
