It's the same from the UK, you have to get your marriage certificate translated and then certified by the Thai Embassey in the UK.

You really need to ho onto the Thai Embassy website and read ref Visas, you really need a tourist visa 60 days and then apply for 30 day extension at the local immigration office, do not overstay your 60 days.

 Bangkok Bank I believe is the main Thai international bank, it may be the only international Thai bank.
