- The reason we have the Amnesty now was due to nearly two weeks of photos and videos in the news everyday showing 300 + people in queues at every major Immigration Office trying to get some sort of relief - an Extension... The resultant embarrassment and loss of face caused the Legislature and Immigration to grant an Amnesty. The epidemic had little to do with it. There is no public spectacle now driving the Legislature and Immigration to do anything - no one is embarrassed or losing face.

Optimism is fine but nothing is pushing Immigration to find a just solution.

- We have 19 days to go before deadline. Only a few days ago a Thai Imm. spokesman said no more - have to clear people out... We need time to plan. No options are being offered - none to date. Just Leave... Just leave with no pathway to allow reentry. This is our home - Married people made families... Business people made businesses. Some made both. All spent a lot of money here. We were doing what has been for Legal for over a decade... now all pathways are blocked with no hint of an option - none.

Concerning what I just wrote about (Non Imm O & B One Year Multi-Entry Visa holders)... It would seem that IF Thai Immigration wanted to they could just charge for a 90 day Stamp (in substitution for a Border Run) whatever Fee they think they can get away with... 3000 Baht a Month X 3 = 9000 Baht. They act like it is equivalent to cutting off their fingers and toes to do a little sidestepping of a crisis. Geeeeeze what a stone calcified hardened bunch! Good Grief can't they just get over protocols for once? This is an unprecedented situation - never happened before, but Thai Immigration acts like this last 7 months is going to happen every year for the rest of their careers

Greg Bewick and Others - This issue is not just about tourists. There are thousands of people on Non Immigrant O & B Multi-Entry Visas who have a life in Thailand. It is not a matter of going home. Thailand is home. But so far Thai Immigration has made NO provision for Non Imm O & B Multi-Entry Visa Holders to perform a Border Run to get another 90 day Stay. This method of Legal long stay in Thailand is at least a Decade old. But so far - Nothing but potential grief from Thai Immigration.

Stefan Wellhoefer - Being mostly wrong - means you are mostly ignorant of the actual subject.

- I have a Current Visa - you are just not capable of understanding how such things function. Trying considering that if you do not really understand the situation - then STFU and stop commenting
