in UK he can apply for retirement visa using his UK bank account. Enter Thailand and open thai bank account. Deposit 800,000tbt Apply for 12 month extension. With a reentry permit he can return before that 12 month expires. Apply for another 12 month extension.
they aren't deterring tourist visitors or limiting them to 30 days. It's 60 days entry without a visa for most countries. Not difficult at all to come on holiday.
you obviously are confused. You get the visa before you arrive in thailand. Open a bank account. Deposit the required funds, then you can do the 12 month extension of stay. That's the procedure.
why don't I know what's happening now? Lol. If you've loads of evidence of people being denied entry for not having a hotel booked, and only that, but they met all other requirements please share them.
not against the logic at all. The visa exempt was always meant for tourists on holiday. It got misused by too many people, so they are now not letting people get away with it. Don't like it? Get a visa. There are several to chose from.
you don't understand at all. Those people weren't using "legal pathways". They were taking advantage of the country turning a blind eye to misuse of the exempt entry. These people wanted to live in Thailand but didn't want to apply for visas, and they are upset that what the exempt entry was always intended for, is being enforced.
