I'm not sure how successful you will be and I think it depends on where you're crossing I tried to do this in Cambodia but this was about 2 years ago and I was denied entry had he fly back, we just took a few days to go on a trip

Do it the right way, Retirement Visa after the age of fifty, apply for a non 0 visa first then two weeks after that you can get a retirement Visa , show proof of residency go to Thai immigration and get them to give you a document showing you can open a bank account go to a bank with the Immigration document,my preference is Kasikorn Bank there are other pathways also like a marriage Long-Term Visa: Non-immigrant visas (B, O, ED, O-A, O-X), LTR, or Thai Elite Visa.

Valid Passport: Must have at least 6 months validity.

Proof of Address: A certificate of residence from Thai Immigration is the best option. A Certificate of Residence from your embassy or a signed lease agreement can also work.

Thai Mobile Phone Number: Necessary for banking apps and security.

Additional Docs: Sometimes a work permit, student letter, or reference letter from your home bank is needed.

You have to go to your embassy in Thailand if there is one or the embassy in your country and get a freedom to marry paper and then you have to go to Bangkok where there may be a New Zealand embassy there's a woman there who does the translations into Thai in Bangkok, you have to go to the Thai Ampor to register your marriage, it is a little bit of a lengthy process but you could do it yourself as I did my wife is Thai
