that's what I did in London. Different embassies have different requirements but London want to see final balance and the previous 3 months statements

that is not the actual wording. And a final balance was accepted

you have to show the bank statements for the previous 3 months at the London embassy. The final 500,000 closing balance can (as of a couple of weeks ago) arrive in your account on the same day you apply. This is what I did

You can do it by post. It's very easy

No. It's only required to get the visa and if you choose to extend in country they will ask again for proof
