METV does not give him any more chance of success on entry than someone with SETV... they are both tourist visas... and it will be up to the IO and his/her mood as to how close they pay attention.
I was never questioned on any of the multitude of SETV in the last 3 years... but have now been twice questioned on the METV...
Jeremy Miller I am on METV and my last 2 trips were questioned... and it was touch and go as to whether they let me in or not... even with proof of income from overseas and all the other proofs.
Just because your friend has had 5 back-to-back successes does not guarantee anyone entry...I know someone who was denied entry on METV in the last month.
It’s is a legitimate requirement, not often enforced, but with back to back stays they pay closer attention - higher risk of being checked.
And yes some people have been turned away...both having the funds and not having the funds... as they are deemed not legitimate tourists/students etc... and immigration often use the section stating insufficient funds as a formality.
Jason Andrews that’s not correct at all...only 3 months ago I flew into KLIA2 from Bangkok and stayed inside a hotel within the arrival/departure hall at KLIA2 - did not need to clear immigration, then the next morning I went straight to the gate to catch my next flight to Australia - all within KLIA2 without clearimg immigration.
It is very possible and designed to “transit” without clearing immigration
You really should refrain from making statements of facts when you clearly don’t know what you are talking about lol
