MOE exam for foreign students studying Thai

I would like information from those who have experience with the MOE exam, in particular:

1. When is it actually held? Some say 6 months, some say 8 months - and if held at 6 months, is it held just before your second 60/90 day extension?

2. Where is the exam conducted, by who and how long does it go for?

3. Anyone know how many people pass or fail on average?

Please only comment if you know, as I would prefer to hear from those with actual experience, rather then general assumptions.

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The MOE exam for foreign students in Thailand is typically held during the 8th month of their ED visa extensions. It's conducted at the Ministry of Education and lasts approximately 15 minutes, during which students may be asked to converse in Thai, read, and write brief sentences. Schools that offer ED visa programs often assist students in preparation, and many have reported a high success rate, with few, if any, failing.

There are some schools out there who offer their ED visa programs and that bypass the MOE mandatory testing. They get you a 90 day single entry ED visa, then you get extensions taking you to the one just before you need to go to the MOE and test. Then they get you a NEW 90 day single entry ED visa and extensions again. You can study over a year and never test.

It is not the way it should work, but I know schools that do it.

IF you're talking about the MOE testing that takes place at the 8th month on your ED visa extensions. It's pretty straightforward and if you're actually attending school you should have no problem getting thru it. They will talk to you in thai, perhaps ask you to read something and write a sentence or two. It takes about 15 minutes. AFAIK; because the school you attend helps you prepare for it I've not heard of ANYONE failing it.

It's given out at the Ministry of Education. Your school knows where it is and will help you prep for it.
