How many times can a US citizen extend a tourist visa in Thailand?
Hello. How many times can a US citizen extend his tourist visa? I did a 30 days extension last week. And wish to extend again.
Answer summary
A US citizen can only extend their tourist visa once per entry into Thailand. After a 30-day extension of a visa exemption or a 60-day tourist visa, they must leave the country. To continue their stay, they need to exit Thailand and either re-enter on a new 30-day visa exemption or obtain a tourist visa from a Thai consulate in a neighboring country.

I don't know how to state it more clearly. You can extend a 30 day visa exempt entry or a 60 day tourist visa entry ONCE for 30 days then you need to leave the country and either re-enter on a 30 day visa exempt entry OR get a tourist visa from a thai consulate in a neighboring country..

Only one extension per entry. After your extension is up you must exit the kingdom.

Richard Richardson Sanguila Like James Miller said, you can get a couple visas or entries back to back but eventually you will be denied admission and it's not pretty. You need to find a more appropriate method if you intend to stay in Thailand long term.

the number of Tourist visas and exempt on arrival entries is being watched closely now by Thai Immigration. If you are planning on staying in Thailand for long periods of time its best you obtain the proper visa to do so.

leave the country and get a tourist visa. Suggest Vientiane Laos. Gets you 60+30 days extension. Need online appointment in advance. Use land entry at Nong Khai. Good luck.Richard **********

You can only extend once... after that you can try again but will be denied but get a further 7 days to get out of the country
