Hi can I grab some advice while it kind of runs in the same question! Currently packing up my life in the uk ( after messy divorce ) I’m starting of in Thailand from the 15th of next month! For 60days and the apply for the extension. Then I’ll be leaving to go to Bali for a week will I be able to re enter and do the same thing. Will be wanting to hopefully stay until June with going out to Cambodia etc.. then will be in Ibiza for 3 months from June. Then ideally would like to go back to Thailand.. is there a rule on how many times you can enter or has that been scrapped! Cheers in advance

Hello team <3

My Wife and I are intending to travel SE Asia (predominantly Thailand) as follows - Arrive Bangkok 17th May 2024

10 Days Thailand (Bangkok & North)

25 days Laos, Vietnam & Cambodia

25 Days Thailand (Bangkok & South)

I realise that UK travellers have a 30 day Visa exemption for Thailand.

Is there any advice on what type of Visa we require for the second step of 25 days? Or do I need a METV or similar?

Also, seeing as the 30 day exemption period would have expired by the time we re-enter Thailand by 5 days are there risks when trying to fly from Sieam Reap into Bangkok at this point, will we be refused entry?

I believe that UK ordinary passport holders can travel to Thailand without visa for no longer than 30 days (maximum 2 times/year) so am I covered for the second visit as things stand as this would equate to 2 x 30 day periods?

I've been researching for 1-2 days now and have brain ache, discovering this group has given me some hope.

We have a one way ticket to Thailand and then we are going to travel around SE Asia. Can we have a train ticket out of Thailand to show the airlines or does it have to be a flight.

Me and my partner are travelling within the next couple of weeks and we are starting in Thailand. We have read that we need to have a return flight booked or they may not let you on the flight out there… we aren’t sure where we will be going after Thailand, just taking each day as it comes when travelling, we are thinking either Cambodia, Vietnam etc… how would we get around this as we may cross the boarders via road? Any advice or self experience would be hugely appreciated.

I will be applying for a ME Tourist Visa next month in my home country. My question is about the timing of exiting/entering Thailand and extensions. My plan is to maximize my time in Thailand, as well as travel to neighboring countries.

I read previous posts, and tried to understand the timing options. Below are 2 scenarios, as examples. Will both of these scenarios work?

What ends the ME TV? Is it 9 months total within Thailand, or 9 months from the date of the first entry?

Let me know if I am missing something obvious.

Thanks in advance for the advice. This group is a valuable resource.

SCENARIO 1

60 days in Thailand

Fly out to Vietnam 2 weeks

60 days in Thailand

Fly out to Cambodia 1 week

60 days in Thailand

Fly out to Malaysia for 1 week

60 days in Thailand + 30 day extension

9 months in Thailand

1 month in other countries

10 months TOTAL

SCENARIO 2

60 Days in Thailand + 30 day extension

Fly out to Vietnam 2 weeks

60 days in Thailand + 30 day extension

Fly out to Cambodia 1 week

60 days in Thailand + 30 day extension

9 months in Thailand

3 weeks in other countries

9 months 3 weeks TOTAL

My boyfriend and I (we are both from the UK) are travelling to Thailand in September for the first time, we would like to stay for two months then move onto travel neighbouring countries for a few months. We then plan to come back to Thailand again for a month or two. Just wondering what the best visa option is for us both to make this possible? How many times can you return to Thailand in one year? Thanks.

Hello, I would like to travel to Cambodia by land, get out of Thailand with my Romanian passport and get in Cambodia with my French passport (and come back to Thailand with my French passport too). I do not think there should be any issues with it, but in case anyone has done it before (used 2 passports for this kind of travel), could you please advise if this works well? Thank you!

Would like some feedback please...worrying experience yesterday:

We were on a so called year ED visa and this came as one 90 day visa and then one 60 day stamp (5 months). Our school then told us we would need to border bounce via minivan to get an additional 30 days...they clearly meant an exemption, so because this didn't fit in with plans and meant that the year we paid for was a farce, we decided to fly to KL and back yesterday. My husband was stamped in fine, but I was held back, saw 'the immigration manager' and then their manager. Questioned why I wasn't studying anymore (plans changed want to travel around SE asia not just stay in Phuket), was I working, when am I leaving, where's my onward flight booking etc. Very scary and I felt as though they very nearly said no...I am back in but NOT fun.

Question: what have I done wrong? This is the first exemption I have got and before that was on a visa.

Our plans were to travel for a few months around SE asia and then come back to Thailand in July....but now worried they won't let me :-(

Fyi - DID have ED visa cancelled and DID have a letter from the school
