Can you enter Thailand with a one-way ticket, or do you need a confirmed return flight?

I entered Thailand in January of 2023 without a return ticket. I was never asked, but I did use a professional visa service to enter the country. I had no intention of leaving, and still don't.

I live in Thailand with a "Retirement Visa". Every year, after I renew it, the Immigration Police visits our house and confirms my address. That includes a picture of me holding my passport inside the house. Here in Uthai Thani Province I find Immigration extremely helpful. I have no complaints at all.
