I’m an American and was in your situation a few years ago. I made 6 trips here before staying. You need income and/or work you can do from anywhere. For me, that involved continued education and changing careers. You can do it if you think and plan carefully.

If you have to go back, use it as an opportunity to get things in order. A good Thai woman will wait for you.

Depends on your country but generally an affidavit from your embassy where you swear that you are free to marry. Also an original seal divorce decree no copies. It’s so complicated!

For anyone who wants to go to Savannakhet without an appointment… be warned about the long wait time in the hot sun. A very nice guy can get you in faster though, if you pay him 1,000 baht.
