Before they never asked insurance certificate (for OA visa) or bank statement at the Bkk Airport and directly extended for 1 year when i re-entered Thailand. For OA category when re-entering Thailand, do they now ask for Insurance Cert at the Airport or land border to get full 12 months?
In my case they renewed until Passport expiry date which was 7 months. And when I renewed passport they would renew/extend it for another one year. But if insurance is required as in case of OA visa than they renew until insurance validity period
I had planned same in March 2020 to exit and enter to automatically extend for one year but soon after all travel had been stranded so had to go through normal extention route. I guess it would be more risky to travel and return back and especially while other nearby country borders still closed
Thank you everyone for your prompt response., coincidentally I bumped into immigration officer while walking to Tesco and he clarified that there is no grace period and it would be considered as overstay with penalty of THB 500 per day! And he mentioned grace period is applicable only for 90 days reporting! Too bad and stringent that no one or two week grace period is allowed after expiry, especially considering OA visa extend requires two months balance maint and insurance requirement, these people need to be little considerate! Anyways, thanks!
55 the issue now is that instead of 1 day delay over 90days now it be forced 5 days delay because immigration has 4 days holiday they will now open only on Monday! Luckily just on the borderline before 7 days grace period is over..
