business would need 1m thb of registered capital and 4 thai employees. the biggest benefit is the registered capital, any other business could get you a WP but it would be 2m in registered capital

Can I extend my 60-day tourist visa in Thailand and how does applying for a Thai visa in Siem Reap work?

This is definitely the way to go.

I did it last week and all I needed was my bank statement, passport photo and onward flight back to OZ. It was around $54 USD, thus about a $14 surcharge for having the provided for me in Phnom Penh. I couldn't imagine it would cost much more than that in Siem Reap.

1,500 thb overstay vs 1,900 extension. Small chance but serious consequences if caught overstaying. If I was in the situation I'd go for the extension, cover all my bases.
