Hi needing some advice, I am a UK. National and and miscalculated my dates, my 30 day visa runs out on the 5th June and I have a flight back to the UK on the 8th. Would I have to extend my visa for another 30 days for this or overstay and pay the fine. My concern with overstaying is that I may come back in a few months and do not want any issues if it flags that I have previously overstayed albeit only a few days.

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK national seeks advice on whether to extend a 30-day visa that expires on June 5 or risk overstaying until their flight on June 8. Most comments advise extending the visa at an immigration office for 1,900 THB to avoid overstaying penalties, which can include fines or temporary detention. There are varying opinions about the consequences of overstaying a few days, with warnings about potential legal issues. Overall, it is recommended to avoid overstaying and extend the visa.

Robert Stewart , do not overstay. Just go closest Immigration and extend 30 day for THB 1,900.-. Duncan Hockey we are here for visa advise. I'll turn comments off for this topic. It have been answered.

Duncan Hockey even though my first language isn't English, I won't bother picking out someone's typos or nit picking grammar on a visa advice page. It's not helpful and it just shows your level of maturity.

Before the grammar police is telling me to stop giving advice, my mother tongue is not English. I try to do my best to write with spelling control, I hope you can appreciate.

No, but in cases such as this, you should be responsible enough, and owe to the OP, to give concise information so they can make an informed decision based on that. You have provided little to no information other than "breaking the law is OK." If you want to and think it's ok to break the law, then that's upto you. But don't advise other's to do so without advising them of the consequences. The group and it's Admin strive to give accurate and true advice at all times, and have shown their professionalism, unlike you. Regarding visa advice, and typo's, it's better that you don't comment at all!

3 days, if caught by Police, even can happen on a road block for helmets control, you will get arrested, jailed and bring to court. Court is more mild with fines, than to Immigration Detention Center till you paid to fly back to your home country with the National carrier on a direct flight and a ban for 1 year. If not get caught, you pay 500 Thb a day at the airport, get a nice lecture of the officers, just stay humble and polite, get a red stamp in passport and off you go. Tip: Be early at the airport, lecture can take some time.

@ ever been to a detention centre? I think it's only appropriate that you give full and correct advice when dealing with visa issues. Well done on picking up on a typo!! How very pedantic of you!!

Duncan HockeyAlthough it's highly unlikely, IF caught, would you like to enlighten the OP of what happens? I think it's only fair to give both sides of the story so he can make an informed decision.

Go and get your 30 more days. No papers needed, just 2 passport pictures and a form to fill at immigration.

Personally I would extend at immigration. No overstay stamp and a clean record. For the sake of trying to save 400bt it's a no brainer.

U just pay for the few days overstay lol no big deal really 555

1,500 thb overstay vs 1,900 extension. Small chance but serious consequences if caught overstaying. If I was in the situation I'd go for the extension, cover all my bases.

If you're advising people that an overstay is not a problem, which it is, then you also need to advise them of the serious punishment that's involved if caught between then and exiting the country. Over-staying is a serious offense if caught!!!

You will be ok, just don't get caught between the 5th and the 8th or you will be in the sh*t

Best to go to an Immigration Centre and extend it. Then no issues at all
