Already made the move. If your partner is a Thai National you will get naysayers. Only you know your partner but do so with your own best judgment.

I worked for the US Government therefore my pension is a Government pension. I guess I have to look into this. Not collecting Social Security yet.

how can you have your pension deposited directly to your Thai bank ? I thought as American citizens you are not allow to do that. I thought you have to have it deposited to an American bank account first than one can wire it to the Thai bank. I figured this requirement is to prevent money laundering with the American government tracking.

Just moved here. I decided to establish residency in South Dakota. I came from California. I don't want to pay anymore California state tax. You can get mail forward service there and a PMB address. I do everything online with banking and credit cards. I use Charles Schwab which is very convenient with no ATM fees. Wire transfer is only $15.
