I know that if you stay in a hospital over night you are required to have someone stay with you. What if you don't know anyone that can do that? I'm assuming that you have to pay a nurse but what is the cost of that at an average private hospital? This would be for a patient who doesn't speak Thai btw. Thank you in advance. 🙂🙂🙂

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the requirement of having someone stay with you overnight in Thai hospitals, particularly for non-Thai speakers. The consensus among the community is that in private hospitals, it is generally not a requirement to have someone stay with you, although culturally, many Thai patients have family members who do so. However, this practice may differ in state hospitals or specific situations, such as in intensive care. The cost of hiring a nurse for assistance varies, with some comments indicating rates around 1000 Baht per day/night.
I was in a international private hospital in Ao Nang Krabi and I had to have someone with me the whole time I had to stay in the ICU until someone came and than I was moved to a private room and that person had to stay with me until I was discharged.
I have been hospitalized numerous times at CM Ram....and NEVER EVER was I told that I needed to have someone stay with me.....where are you getting your information from ...Fakebook?🇺🇦
My wife's stays when I'm in hospital and I stay when she has been it's not required but in most private hospitals it's allowed and catered for with a lounge in the rooms
Nah. Not afraid of covid my friend. I was in the hospital a couple of times last year but just turned out I was having bad anxiety attacks. Actually, being in the hospital made it worse because the first doctor tried to convince me I had all sorts of health problems. She was a new doctor making hasty diagnoses. 😀
No, not true, except maybe in a very local hospital? I've had surgery alone in an international hospital, no issue whatsoever. I was in a private room.
No one stayed with me at hospital in Bangkok. The nurses spoke English and were very nice. I had stomach issues and they gave me meds for years when I left. 🙂
A friend who was in and out of the hospital had to have someone stay with him because of his condition but it wasn’t a requirement by the hospital. He paid people that do that kind of thing 1000 baht a day/night.
I stayed in a hospital alone for several nights - nobody suggested that was an issue and the room only had my bed and a tiny sofa so I doubt anyone could've joined anyway.
This is false. Many hospitals now, because of covid, won't even let family visit them in the hospital. My wife just had surgery last month, and even fully vaccinated I couldn't visit.
The main foreign language they'll use by default is English. If you require assistance in another language that has to be made known to the staff first.
This situation of having somebody else being in the room only applies to single patient rooms. If there are more patients, then this does not apply.
A nurse is paid by the hour, expect in a government hospital to pay something like 50 or more Baht/hour.
The reason for this is, that a) people have been doing silly things, when left alone and b) they might need help, which requires somebody to at least call for help.
Banglamung hospital is not recommendable. Try Sri Racha, or university hospital in Chonburi, but be aware that Covid has restricted many hospitals in taking in "other" patients.
I know banglamung hospital expect someone to stay with you if you’re in a private room, if there is nobody to stay with you then you have to be put in the public ward. At least that is the experience I had when a friend was there a few years ago.
I believe if you are in intensive care and get released to a regular room that may be true but that is to avoid them having a nurse stay with you and having to pay.
Stayed at Maharaj (public hospital) for three days, def did not need someone with me (they wouldn't even allow visitors...) Have had multiple friends stay at hospitals here for up to a week, they've never required accompaniment.
I stayed at Sumkumvit Hospital on 2 separate occasions and they told me I have to have someone with me. I guess it depends on the hospital then. Thank you so much for your answers.
or a scam to get more money out of you. Don’t think hospitals are immune to pulling a few tricks in the land of scams. They’re not. They’re among the worst offenders.
