TLDR : Answer Summary
There is a discussion among users about finding affordable RT-PCR test options in Orange County, CA for travelers departing from LAX to Bangkok (BKK). Users mention that typical prices are around $150, with one commenter noting a specific service, Quantgene, which charges $165 and provides same-day results, crucial for meeting the testing requirements of certain airlines. Other suggestions include purchasing PCR tests from Amazon as a more cost-effective alternative. Commenters express frustration about the high costs of testing in the US compared to prices in countries like India.

Best is to buy the pcr test from Amazon and they will send the results on time most of the time. It's one of the least expensive options. It will work for the 72 hour requirement.
Such a scam when in India they will come to your home and take a swab for a PCR test for 15 bucks. Or you go to the lab for ten bucks. These places in the US and especially Thailand are making so much money off these tests.
And in many western european countries they are completely free

I used them. It was $165 but you get the results on the same day. It was important because I traveled via Singapore airlines and they wanted a 48 hours requirement and not the 72 hours from Thailand.

Of all places in the USA, they should be free in California
