Doug Olson I’m not sure, I drove for 3 years of visits to Thailand on a international drivers license before I finally decided to retire here. After getting a retirement visa and my residency paperwork I had no issues getting a Thai car and motorcycle licenses. Maybe I just got lucky in my use of the International permit?

I have both Kasikorn and Bangkok bank accounts. Kasikorn bank much easier to deal with. Bangkok bank does a 2 or 3 month hold time once deposit was done and visa process paperwork can be difficult.

I appreciate your thorough answer and explanation. I have 2 bank accounts there. ! for my 800,000 which I won't pull from and 1 for my monthly budget. Maybe I am just over-planning this out. I just don't want to make a mistake on my end. Thanks again for your answer.
