all laws and guidelines should be clear and transparent. How can people obey rules they don't fully understand ?

Thailand needs to decide how many days per year is too much to stay in Thailand per year. 90? 120? 180? Before they had clear guidelines of not more than 2 visa exempt entries by land pet calendar year..that was clear and people understood.

Thailand can of course require whatever they want, but in today's world of electronic payments and credit cards, how many people normally carry THB 20,000 or the equivalent in $ / £ /€ in cash ?

yes. I agree. Luckily, I am on a Non O and am not directly affected. My only worry is the tax liability for expats which is also not well defined and in flux.

I know I am naive, but Thailand should clearly publish the rules on the number of visa exempt entries allowed; it should not be a guessing game.

A young single Thai getting a U.S. visa is a difficult process. The biggest help is having a steady job in Thailand, possibly a condo or home in their name and a history of visiting other countries and returning to Thailand within the visa parameters. The U.S. government is looking for strong ties to Thailand which gives them confidence they well return to Thailand.
