Does switching to a Non-O visa reset my 90-day reporting requirement in Thailand?

I arrived Thailand May 8 on a visa exempt from the U.S. I extended for 30 days and then changed to a Non O based on being over 50. My current 3 month Non O was issued 1Jul21 and is valid until 28Sep21.

Since my 90 day arrival was this week, I went to do a 90 day report but the official at the counter said my Non O reset my 90 day report.

I vaguely remember reading this but just want to make sure I am ok.

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Upon switching to a Non-O visa, your prior 90-day reporting requirement resets. This means that your new 90-day reporting timeline starts from the date your Non-O visa was granted.

I never knew there was a non-o that expired in only three months?

ALL the single entry Non Imm O visas expire after 90 days. Only the multi entry Non Imm O visa is valid for 1 year.

Only the multi entry Non Imm O visa is “potentially” valid for 1 year and only upon application. That requires further documentation depending on the type e.g. for marriage or retirement along with a significant amount of money with its own rules regarding e.g. how long it needs to be in a Thai bank prior to that application. Even then you don't have a “multi entry Non Imm O visa...valid for 1 year,” but a “One-year Extension of Stay”. They are not the same thing.

yes. When I converted from visa exempt to Non O, it is a 3 month visa which I can extend for one year
Dave ******
@Ken ******
that's called a 15-month Visa. Available when you get your non-o for the first time.

@Dave *****
Nope, that's the multi entry Non Imm O visa.

not sure what you refer...I was issued a Non O at Chaeng Wattana on July 1 and it is valid for 3 months until Sep 28

Your 90 Day stamp expires on Sept. 28? How many days in advance can you go back to CW Office to apply for the 1 Year Extension?

3 days before under current policy...which I think is 23Sep ignoring Sat and Sun

I think the stamp is good for 3 months but the Visa should be good for 15. 2 different things. But really it's okay either way I'm not trying to cause an argument.

May I ask, did you get your Thai bank account while on the visa exempt stamp?
Phill ******

But only the first time you get 1y :-(

In June I had to go first extend visa for 1 year in person. Then next week go do 80 day report-- to show I'm still alive? LOL
