TLDR : Answer Summary
For a layover of approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes in Dubai while traveling from Thailand back to the UK, you do not need a transit visa. Many travelers have confirmed that they have transited through Dubai under similar circumstances without the need for any visa, provided that you remain air-side and do not leave the airport. British passport holders, in particular, do not require a visa for such transit.

Not if you won't be entering Dubai, but staying air-side in a transfer lounge

Ask for that at arrivals when you land in Dubai

They will take the duty free off you so please don't take any alcohol with you

Come on

no - you do not.
Additionally, I think transit visas are primarily used if you're leaving the airport. 1 hour is not enough time to exit and re-enter any international airport
