Good morning☕️. These are the requirements for applying for a 90 days Non O at the immigration in Bangkok. The funds has to be in your account at date when you apply. No need for seasoning. It has to be shown as an international transfer. For your extension of stay after 90 days the funds has to be seasoned for two months before you apply. (So you just leave the funds in your account if you apply for a Non O in Thailand).

Ok, that’s the requirement for legally retire in Thailand. And I understand you’ve already heard about the “industry” that does illegal bypass of formal requirements for a price. If you use this option you’re also stuck with an agent to bypass the former agent’s bypass for the future, but it happens all the time.

You can apply for the initial 90 days Non O visa with income at your embassy/consulate at home. For the first year extension of stay in Thailand there’s no legal way around to prove the first year yourself by banking 800K baht in a thai bank two months before you apply. For your second year extension of stay you can use your income again after showing proof of twelve months consecutive transfers over sea.

If You’re on a visa exemption you apply for a Non O visa on a TM.87, on tourist visa it’s TM.86. You’ll need 15-21 days left on your current stamp.

The requirements for a Non O and extension of stay is more or less the same. If you’re embassy doesn’t offer to give you a affidavit letter to confirm your income you’ll need to bank 800K baht in a thai bank at date when you apply (unless you apply in Jomtien immigration who demands two months seasoning). For the extension of stay the 800K baht needs to be seasoned for two months before you apply. Fees is 2000 baht for the Non O and 1900 baht for the extension of stay.

Ok, I understand. The biggest issue is to open a bank account on a tourist visa. If you’re from Italy (I see you write in Italian on your FB) your embassy in Bangkok offers to provide you an affidavit letter. If you can meet the requirements of 65K baht income a month, you’ll don’t need to prove any funds in a bank for your initial Non O visa and you might manage to get the visa without a bank account as well. Letter from embassy is an alternative to funds in a bank.

You’ll need to provide the documentation for the agent yourself anyway and biggest con is paying 15-25K baht for something with an actual cost of 2000baht. If you use an agent to bypass formal legal requirements, there are several more cons.

I believe that’s the real point here. It’s unlimited in the same way as airport entries and it’s possible until it’s not, -and that’s totally in the discretion of the IO you’re standing in front of.

At least NZ still offers to provide affidavit letters to their citizens for Non O visa and extension of stay in Thailand despite their expensive visa fees.

Not if your embassy offers to provide you an affidavit letter and you can meet the required 65K baht a month. Ore else you’ll need to prove 800K baht in a thai bank account for your first extension before you might switch to the income method by showing proof of twelve consecutive transfers for your second extension of stay.

He’s a lucky guy from Norway with an embassy providing affidavit letters, so if he can meet the requirements of 65K baht a month, he will be fine.😉
