TLDR : Answer Summary
No, you do not need an ETA for entry into Thailand as an over 70-year-old. Currently, an ETA is not a requirement and is unlikely to be enforced until later in 2025. You will receive a 60-day visa exemption upon arrival on February 1st. Make sure not to overstay this exemption.
How old do you have to be to go through a “Priority” lane?

I came through BKK 3 weeks ago, a kind young member of staff opened the gate to the priority gate and ushered me in, I am 75, just didn't think I looked it. 😆

I learnt something today, I did not know that I was eligible to use the priority lane. Thank you 🙏 to the group
If you have traveled to the Philippines you will understand what it is..
It's a website or App where you must register your intention to enter the country before you travel..
It's only a proposal at the moment and the Thai government released some information about it in the media with a very optimistic date for implementation but that's already been postponed..
Just ignore it and there will be plenty of information about it once it's actually rolled out including a trial period where it won't be compulsory.

If arriving from or spending 12 hours or longer transiting these countries you will need a Yellow Fever certificate. You can upload in advance to save time upon entry but not compulsory;
nothing better to do? There is lots of conflicting content on Google, including some embassy sites saying effective from December 24. Maybe you should try to find something better to do with your time
It's a typical government thing and Thailand do this often.
They throw out an plan or idea to the media with an optimistic delivery or build date and then once they look carefully at what's involved they have to revise or change plans..
If you are asking can the visa exemption entry be extended ?
Then the answer is yes.
You can extend 1 time at any Thailand immigration office and pay 1900 Baht for 30 day extension..
If you overstay your visa exemption then you must pay a fine and the overstay will be recorded against your passport and that could affect your future entry to Thailand.
No official statement regarding this. I guess everyone will know when and if it starts. It was supposed to be a pilot program only for Australians for the first six months from December first and possible for all after this period, but no one know anything clearly at this point.
