TLDR : Answer Summary
No, you do not need an ETA for entry into Thailand as an over 70-year-old. Currently, an ETA is not a requirement and is unlikely to be enforced until later in 2025. You will receive a 60-day visa exemption upon arrival on February 1st. Make sure not to overstay this exemption.

I came through BKK 3 weeks ago, a kind young member of staff opened the gate to the priority gate and ushered me in, I am 75, just didn't think I looked it. 😆
Danny *******
I learnt something today, I did not know that I was eligible to use the priority lane. Thank you 🙏 to the group

No, the ETA was only a proposal, haven’t heard anymore about it.

ETA ?

@Wayne *******
I don't know also. Perhaps Estimated Time of Arrival?

@Santana ********
It's an Electronic Travel Authorisation

If you have traveled to the Philippines you will understand what it is..

It's a website or App where you must register your intention to enter the country before you travel..

It's only a proposal at the moment and the Thai government released some information about it in the media with a very optimistic date for implementation but that's already been postponed..

Just ignore it and there will be plenty of information about it once it's actually rolled out including a trial period where it won't be compulsory.

Priority line still need to wait for luggages ...lol
Nick *******
I doubt very much he is coming from there. Why did you have to post that?
Christopher ***********
If arriving from or spending 12 hours or longer transiting these countries you will need a Yellow Fever certificate. You can upload in advance to save time upon entry but not compulsory;

I go through the Priority Lane although I am only 69, as Thais count years differently. Babies are 1 year old at birth.

Your airline will ask for this when it comes in.
Baz *********
NO..

Forget about any ETA .

Not currently a requirement and not likely to be until later in 2025..

You will get 60 day visa excemption entry when you arrive..

Your day of arrival is day 1 of your 60 days regardless of the time of day you arrive..

So keep that in mind when calculating your stay.

DO NOT deliberately over stay your visa exemption

@Baz ********
it catches out so many people!
Baz *********
@Tony ********
It's a typical government thing and Thailand do this often.

They throw out an plan or idea to the media with an optimistic delivery or build date and then once they look carefully at what's involved they have to revise or change plans..

Seen it happen many times over the years.
Tony *********
@Baz ********
I understand.

They used to be indecisive, but they are not so sure now? 555 🤣
Fra *****
@Baz ********
you can extendieren your stay a view days you just have to pay than 😛😜
Baz *********
@Fra ****
If you are asking can the visa exemption entry be extended ?

Then the answer is yes.

You can extend 1 time at any Thailand immigration office and pay 1900 Baht for 30 day extension..

If you overstay your visa exemption then you must pay a fine and the overstay will be recorded against your passport and that could affect your future entry to Thailand.
Fra *****
@Baz ********
thats Not truth if you just have a Oberstaufen for view days, you get an evisa anyway! I not even got a stamp 😛

@Baz ********
very good & concise advice.

No, ETA is postponed.
Leonard ******
@Jan *****************
Does anyone know how long it'll postponed for I'm coming in March
Jan ******************
@Leonard *****
No official statement regarding this. I guess everyone will know when and if it starts. It was supposed to be a pilot program only for Australians for the first six months from December first and possible for all after this period, but no one know anything clearly at this point.
Leonard ******
@Jan *****************
Thanks for that I'll just keep looking to keep up
Ant ******
@Jan *****************
