You don't need to stamp into another country. You can stay in transit and fly back with the same airplane. BUT! make sure you keep both bording passes to show Immigration in Bangkok. I'm not the only one and you can find numerous accounts on this page of people who did this.

Each and every Amphur seems to require a different set of documents. Apparently I live in a very easy going Amphur (Sansai, Chiang Mai) all I needed was my PP holding a valid visa, Cert. Of Res., my gorgeous facepics and a document filled out by my partner who holds the blue book. That's it. Done in 2 days.

Not always. Some Consulates are staffed with locals only (including the Consul) with no Thai nationals ever working there.

A Consulate in something Completely different than an Embassy. For urgent Visa matters you'll have to visit the Embassy who only closes on public holidays. Keep in mind that Visa counters usually only open at normal office hours. Consulates operate on the authority of the Consul who is pretty much autonomous.

Any bank can do it but it's at the grace of the branch manager. So when they say no just try next door.

Do I need to cancel my extension of stay before obtaining a new multiple entry Non-B visa in Penang?

Tod I extend my WP every 2 yrs. Next time my non-B needs renewal in Penang I will have only 5 months on the WP left but I can't renew earlier than within the last 30 days. How do I still get a ME 1 yr non-B? It's the first time I'll be in this situation, in the past i always had 8 month plus so there was no issue.
