Thai Immigration Holiday Closure May

ALL immigration offices in thailand will be closed the following days in May

Monday May 4th

Wednesday May 13th

Entry/Exit points to the country (airports/land crossings) do NOT close during holidays

Also if you have a stamp that expires the day that immigrations is closed (weekends or holidays) and you go the next day they're open you can get your extension like normal and not be fined for overstay (you will get an overstay stamp in your passport though). ..

Plan accordingly people !!!

Hi everyone,

I understand patience is a virtue and I’m being quite irrational here, due to Christmas close down - but it’s bloody cold in the UK..

I applied for the workation DTV to the London embassy 8:00am on the 24th Dec (I imagine this would be skeleton staff and not counted as a day) would I be correct in thinking that Dec 29th, 30th and Jan 2nd could count towards a possible 14 day process or should I tell myself that it all starts from tomorrow (5th January)

I am departing to Thailand in March, so I also understand this might push me to the back of the queue.

Many thanks!

My under consideration stamp is for Dec 28th

Should I attempt to go on 27th and hopefully not be turned away?

A reminder that next Monday February 26th is a public holiday and all immigration offices around the country will be closed.

If your entry stamp falls due on the 24th, 25th or 26th then go get your extension before then. If you don’t you’ll be joining the hordes of people going on Tuesday 27th. Many immigration offices will be super busy because of the 3 day closure. You won’t get a fine because the offices were closed but you’ll still get a stamp (in Thai) that says “overstay X days. Fine waived due to closure”.

Land borders and airports are not affected by public holidays.

Plan accordingly.

Directly quoted from "the other group."

**ATTENTION MEMBERS

IMMIGRATION OFFICE CLOSURES December 2022 & January 2023**

Immigration offices throughout the country will be closed on:

Monday, Dec 5: King Bhumibol Birthday Commemoration Day

Monday, Dec 12: Substitution holiday for Constitution Day

Friday, Dec 30: Special holiday

Monday, Jan 2: Substitution holiday for New Year’s Day

Plan accordingly.

* Land borders are open like normal during holidays.

* Myanmar borders are not open yet for foreigners.

If you have a stamp that is expiring during holidays when the immigration offices are closed and you show up at the immigration office on the very next working day you will NOT be fined for overstay and can get your extension like normal. But you will get an overstay stamp in your passport that says; "overstay xxx days, fine waived due to holiday/closure".
