My 1 year extension of stay based on Non B will expire in February.

I have decided to switch to an multiple entry B visa (Penang)

Do I need to officially cancel my extension of stay with immigration or will it automatically run out in February or when I make my visa run

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on whether they need to formally cancel their current extension of stay (based on a Non-B visa) before applying for a new multiple entry Non-B visa in Penang, which will occur after the current extension expires in February.

You're not switching employers right?

I would say you might still need to go cancel your extension of stay at the immigration office before you run to Penang to get the new Non-B visa. BUT I'm not sure about it, sorry. :/

Make sure your work permit is valid for at least 8 months when you apply for the year-long, multi-entry Non-B in Penang otherwise all you'll get is a 90 day single entry.

okay, then you would go cancel your current extension of stay BEFORE you exited the country to get a new Non-B.

Just renewed my WP last week so no probs there, and yes I’m creating another company that I’ll work permit myself in next year, been on 1 year extensions last 3 years and prefer the forced visa run every 90 days to get bit of R&R 😊

, Hmm, that IS a good question :/ I don't have the answer to it :( Hopefully someone with a 2 year work permit will weigh in and provide the answer.

Tod I extend my WP every 2 yrs. Next time my non-B needs renewal in Penang I will have only 5 months on the WP left but I can't renew earlier than within the last 30 days. How do I still get a ME 1 yr non-B? It's the first time I'll be in this situation, in the past i always had 8 month plus so there was no issue.
