Why was the Thai Consulate in Bali closed for over 10 days without any notice?

Guys, how is it possible for the Thai Consulate in Bali to be closed for more than 10 days, without any mention on their website? Consulates are closed on Indonesian and Thai Public Holidays and in that interval there's only the NY holiday. Isn't this a bit against the law?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user questions why the Thai Consulate in Bali was closed for more than 10 days without any information on their website, particularly since consulates typically close for specific public holidays. The conversation reveals a mix of humor and frustration about consulate operations, highlighting that consulates have different closure policies compared to embassies, and responses indicate that consulate staff may be Thai nationals heading home for holidays.

A Consulate in something Completely different than an Embassy. For urgent Visa matters you'll have to visit the Embassy who only closes on public holidays. Keep in mind that Visa counters usually only open at normal office hours. Consulates operate on the authority of the Consul who is pretty much autonomous.

The staff are Thai and it's a consulate not an embassy. They head home for the holidays.

In most cases the staff are locals and not Thai.

I've used the Bali consulate they are Thai. Not much help to know that now but at least some in the group will know for future.

Not always. Some Consulates are staffed with locals only (including the Consul) with no Thai nationals ever working there.
